What Is an Animal Health Certificate?
An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) is an official veterinary document required for most dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from Great Britain to the European Union when they do not have another accepted travel document.
The certificate confirms your pet's identity, microchip details and rabies vaccination status.
An AHC must be issued within 10 days before your pet enters the EU.
One certificate can cover up to five eligible pets travelling together under the applicable non-commercial pet travel rules.
How Does It Work?
What Does Your Pet Need?
Before booking an Animal Health Certificate, your pet must meet the relevant travel requirements.
Microchip
Your pet must have a compliant microchip, implanted before or at the time of their qualifying rabies vaccination.
Valid Rabies Vaccination
Your pet must have a valid rabies vaccination. Following an initial vaccination, or a vaccination after a lapse in cover, a waiting period of at least 21 days normally applies before EU travel.
Veterinary Clinical History
We require your pet's veterinary records, including evidence of microchipping and rabies vaccination, when you book.
Travel Dates
Your AHC must be issued within 10 days before entry into the EU, so please ensure your appointment falls within the correct travel window.
Please note that Furry Flyers does not provide vaccinations, medication or laboratory testing. These should be arranged through your usual veterinary practice where required.
